Fade

Day

Fade, and take the night with you

Let me breathe at mine own pace

Who has died to see me here is ever present

And the scent of success is silent in another’s lungs

If eyes do not search, what do they see

And night will have a mind all its own

The loss the better part of the string I grasp

Bones have warmth you cannot hold back

Answers only passwords to a security

The burning guide must always lead

Turn and turn and turn again

It were ever thus

Night

The air between is rainbow-brushed

And free to see, I feel the sand between my teeth

Dawn brings succour to friend and foe alike

We remember first the simplest gesture

Old men eat sweetmeats and dream of when it was

Not so and they dreamed of when

It would be

There’s the cold heat that calls and

The one next to the one in the centre

Incomplete
